  • Do Not Kiss Lips With Mourning Breath

Celebrate as if tomorrow were predestined to be forgotten
because we all know that 2013 is walking out the backdoor
carrying too many unused hours and regretful mornings,
too many misspent days and tragic, tearful, blurry nights,
far too much of our whirlwind lives to mourn in ten seconds.

Let the new year’s arrival not be the wake of one fallen,
but rather the refusal to be victimized in Time’s Square.
