Peace Through Power

We are born as war
torn, abandoned islands
within an uncharted ocean. 
We sit idle as scavengers,
in waves, plunder shores
of keepsakes. Fragments 
of shrapnel and delicate shells 
ripped from our beaches
leave behind a longing
soon buried by silence
betrayed by whispers.
As the last foreign body breaks
free of our isle of regret, our
pure, white sands reflect
the light of life towards the eyes
of explorers, sailors adrift at sea,
seeking peace, not greed.
