One Step Closer

We’re falling 
apart—
deconstructing humanity
at what is soon to be a quantum rate—
with every bit of
interaction, each
rolled eye and swallowed word—
one per hundred of
the useless
we see fit to bestow voice upon—
crossing the event horizon
from shared space to
s t r e t c h e d patience
as the pieces of what we once called society
become forgotten lore,
the butt of a joke
of an alternate, stripped down, reality.
